Poetic styles I use:

Cinquain

Simple poem of 5 lines with the following general relationship between the lines:
Line 1: Noun
Line 2: Description of Noun
Line 3: Action
Line 4: Feeling or Effect
Line 5: Synonym of the initial noun.

A cinquain employs a "line structure" according to one of the following three structures:
Word Structure  Sense structureSyllable Structure
Line 1:  One wordA nounTwo syllables
Line 2:  Two wordsTwo adjectivesFour syllables
Line 3:  Three wordsThree -ing wordsSix syllables
Line 4:  Four wordsA phraseEight syllables
Line 5:  One wordAnother word for the noun  Two syllables
Triolet

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.  Make writing a Triolet more challenging! Make each line
8 syllables in length.

Mini-Monoverse

A poetry form originated by Emily Romano. Each mini-monoverse is made up of two stanzas of five three-syllable lines. They rhyme scheme is a/a/a/a/a for the first stanza and b/b/b/b/b for the
second stanza.
